History
Mascotte was built in 1904 as a Bristol Channel Pilot Cutter for pilot Thomas Cox of Newport
She was one of the largest Pilot Cutters ever build and was designed to carry 3 pilots and remained in service till 1913.
In 1994, Mascotte was extensively refurbished with a new Douglas Fir deck and new engine. Down below, the interior was rebuild with Honduras Mahogany to a layout which is thought to be close to the original. On deck, a new main mast and bowsprit in pitch pine, Sitka spruce gaff and Douglas fir boom were all made and attached to a new set of Ratsey sails.
Mascotte is fully coded by the MCA for operation in Category 2 waters
